Fabric For Kilt

There are various fabrics available for making the Scotland kilts. In this article, we use tartan fabric which is made with acrylic wool. This fabric is available in two different weights i.e, 13oz and 16oz. 13oz tartan is commonly used for making traditional kilts. However, 16oz tartan is used for making heavyweight kilts. Tartan depends on clan, you can choose tartan according to your clan. The selection of fabric is important for making any type of kilt.

Measurement

For making the kilt, you should know your or your customer’s exact kilt size. The kilt measurement will never same as the trousers measurements. Waist Measurement

Waistband

Straps And Buckles

For making tartan utility kilts, the same fabric straps would be used with buckles. However, for making traditional kilts then black leather straps would be used with that kilt.

Pockets

The pockets are the additional step if we are making utility-style kilts. Two pockets have to be attached to the utility tartan kilt. Moreover, these pockets must be 8 inches deep. Hemstitch them according to the quality standard.
